Iconic car maker Jeep is offering its Grand Cherokee model for sale in Indian markets in March 2014. This car is being sold in world markets with as a two row SUV similar in interior body setup to Audi’s Q5 and BMW’s X3 though in India it will be sold with three rows as a family car. The powerful Jeep Grand Cherokee has a Uni-Frame based body made of strong steel which is supplemented with premium independent suspension system and isolated cradles to deliver smooth and pleasurable ride.
The most eye-catching features of this beauty are five meter long body with high ground clearance and square wheel arches. A large part of this car’s visual appeal is due to front façade’s seven slat grille and futuristic flat headlamps. The lower air dam is curved and covered by a wide slat of chrome while upper radiator grille is covered in chrome. Similar chrome outline has been provided on windows and doors along with chrome lines on sides over body groves and rear.
The Grand Cherokee from Jeep is likely to be priced between INR 36 – 40 lakhs due to taxes and duties. Its interiors are quite luxurious with leather seats and side upholstery in similar material. Jeep will launch this car’s third generation variant in India with 3.0 liter V6 diesel engine with McPherson struts and torsion beam suspension. The current 2013 Cherokee in world markets has a powerful engine capable of generating 237 bhp.
Though Fiat had announced that the Cherokee will be released in December 2013, it seems unlikely due to few setbacks in official deliveries across USA. The new 2014 Grand Cherokee will have a neat console with computerized controls set within 8.4 inch touch screen which will also car’s manage audio system. Tilt adjustable steering wheel has been given wood and leather finish with more than a dozen buttons for control of various options.
The car’s large double sunroof gives a majestic view of open sky which is electronically controllable along with car’s massive boot. Though it weighs nearly 2.4 tonnes, the Grand Cherokee can accelerate within 8 seconds to reach top speed of around 200 kmph.
